Our History

Founded in 1990, South Coast Chorale is the premiere LGBT Chorus of Long Beach. We pride ourselves in being an all-inclusive, community ensemble celebrating diversity and promoting acceptance. Not only are we dedicated to entertaining, but also to educating and uniting our community through music, as a reminder to us all that we are more alike than we are different.

The combined experience of our talented group is astounding. From our leaders, production team and singers, to our volunteers, these individuals have used their talents to entertain thousands of audience members all over the world. United, this amazing collection of talent is able to produce a sound rivaling that of much larger choruses. This affords SCC the opportunity to perform productions not normally attempted by a community ensemble.

With three major performances each season, South Coast Chorale provides a full spectrum of musical entertainment, reaching a large and diverse audience. From our more traditional choral performances and premiere commissioned pieces to our fun and original Broadway musical parodies and our yearly fundraiser Cabaret Our Way, SCC has established a superior reputation. Highly entertaining and filled with artistic excellence, each show is chosen and designed to celebrate, educate and explore our diverse world and it’s inhabitants as we continue our journey toward unity and equality for all.

Over the years, SCC has continued to fill a vital role in enhancing the growth and cultural life of Long Beach and the surrounding areas through partnerships with local community organizations. Through our music, we educate by exploring and sharing our perspective of the LGBT experience. Through our community service, donating time, talent and resources to other charitable organizations throughout the area, we promote ourselves as positive and contributing members, and live as examples of how a life of inclusion, acceptance and equality can unite us all.
